The Iron Panda Division was once part of the Earth Coalition but they soon followed the Germans and became Martian Sympathizers. They believed that the Martians should govern Mars themselves and that the war itself between them shouldn't be fought at all.

The Iron Panda colorway consists of black and white. Decals show up in either black or white. A variant of the colorway, Snow Panda, is blue and white with decals being white or blue.

Decals

Note the symbol on the right shoulder (our left).

It's not the most prominent decal on Iron Panda but it is one of two that isn't letters, numbers, or a saying. That's the drawing of a monster like head, with drool running down its jaw, and it's wearing a helmet. It sure isn't a panda going by the groups namesake but it might be the division's personal logo or insignia. It bears some stylistic similarities to the Deep Powder Corp cartoon character but this one is much more sinister and definitely not as cute.

Like other military units the use of disturbing imagery isn't new. For the Iron Panda are they trying to make the enemy see them as monsters or do they believe they are monsters? For their enemies they might be monsters and the Iron Pandas have grasped onto that imagery and are using it for their own benefit.

Note the teardrop under the right eye (our left).

A teardrop decal can be found on the Large Martins, Damn Large Martins, and some of the Square Mk1s.

At first this looks like a teardrop tattoo which is a common prison tattoo and has a variety of meanings (murder, lost family member or friend, rape victim, rapist, and more). Could the Iron Panda Division be a penal group? Full of criminals pressed into service to fight the war?

On the other hand the teardrop might represent the loss of a well liked commander, loss of nobility or innocence in fighting a war, or someone with some white paint thought it would look cool on some robots.

Note the word crunch on the "hand".

The word crunch can be found on the meat tenderizer hands of the Large and Damn Large Martins, the arm and cloth of the dropcloth, and the feet of some of the squares.

Simply, the word has been put next to areas on the robot that can crush (arms, feet, hands). That or it could be a written out onomatopoeia, for humor or not, of the sound that the robots cause when they hit an enemy.

On a more metaphorical level, crunch, could also be what the Iron Panda do their enemies. Crush them all.

Note the TRP 14 and star.

TRP 14 and a star seem to be a unit designation. The number 14 can be found on all the bots outside of TRP and the star.

Exactly what TRP stands for is beyond me. As we've seen with other colorways it might refer to the units commander or have a different meaning.

Not the X in brackets on the square on the right.

Lastly we have an X surrounded by brackets. For the most part it's just that but this decal can be seen on another colorway, Deimos II. Indications is this might be an EC marking.

Sayings

Note Dead Eyes Open

The most prominent saying across Iron Panda is dead eyes open. The saying refers to the eyes left open after someone dies. Eyes are usually shut manually by someone else after death as the sight of dead eyes can be unsettling. Leaving the eyes open after death is usually the opposite of what you do.

For the Iron Panda Division this might refer back to seeing themselves as monsters or creating the image of them being monsters. Are they the ones with these dead eyes open? If they did they would be presenting themselves as soulless and terrifying.

Wars might be fought physically but they can also by fought psychology. The Iron Panda Division seems to understand this well.

Note fuck the reds.

The other saying found on some Iron Panda bots is fuck the reds. This saying was an addition made by the soldiers do to it not matching the typeface used for the other sayings. Soldiers love to scribble on anything and robots are not different.

First, the reds that it refers to are not the Soviets. It refers to Martians. This saying was done when the Iron Panda Division was part of the EC. Interestingly, the saying seems to have stuck around even with the group becoming martian sympathizers. At that point the saying might of switched to the Soviets who are apart of the EC and Iron Panda has engaged them in combat.

Dawn Patrol

Dawn Patrol is a group that has no written lore in WWR. What we have to go off of is just the decals and some very broad assumptions. This breakdown will give a behind the scenes look at how I go about piecing things together from historical context to symbols.

Dawn Patrol is salmon pink with the majority of decals being black and white.

Decals

Note the roundel on the left side of the body and arm (our right).

First let's start with deducing the faction and nationality of the robot. For Dawn Patrol that big roundel (the circle looking thing) is a dead giveaway of the nationality of the colorway.

RAF Type B Roundel

This roundel in particular is the RAF's Type B. The Royal Air Force being a British institution points to Dawn Patrol being a British colorway. In WWR the United Kingdom is now known as the New United Kingdom (NUK) and is apart of the Earth Coalition.

So from that simple roundel we already know the nationality and the faction of the colorway.

Hard to see but note the G12 on the left shoulder (our right).

After the roundel we have a marking that says G12. My head jumps to two ideas with this decal.

First it might stand for the Group of 12 (which does contain the United Kingdom). The Group of 12 is a group of industrial advanced countries and use their central banks to regulate international finance.

Next we have another G12 group but this one is a Christian religious movement known as the G12 vision. This would make all kinds of sense with the Earth Coalition being primarily Christian. What is the G12 vision? Well, it's cell like structure based on the idea "government of 12" (Israel had 12 tribes, Christ had 12 disciples, etc.).

With the G12 vision a pastor trains 12 followers to become cell leaders. These 12 leaders then go into the community and spread the gospel to 12 people in the community. Then those new 12 followers will eventually become cell leaders themselves. Today, the G12 vision teaching's and methods are considered controversial.

Sayings

The namesake of the colorway can be found on the main body of the Armstrong and on the jump pack. Dawn patrol is accompanied with G12 which we already discussed above. So we'll just focusing on dawn patrol here.

What is a dawn patrol? Well, it could refer to its more literal meaning: "a flight, especially during the early days of military aviation, undertaken at dawn or early morning in order to reconnoiter enemy positions". This is most likely the name behind the colorway especially paired with its pinkish dawn colors. 

With all the info in front of me the Dawn Patrol unit not all that different from the Photo Recon Unit (PRU). It seems to be another recon unit that is apart of the New United Kingdom. Like other EC units/groups they have a marking announcing their Christianity.

Dirty Deeds (and other Deeds)

What happens when you want to end the Great War? Do you try peace? No, because Rothchild will ruin that (see both Peaceday massacres). What about beating the other side? Sounds great but Rothchild keeps backing both sides. This Rothchild seems to be a problem. How about someone gets rid of him? The Earth Coalition had this exact idea.

The Dirty Deeds were created to kill their creator, Rothchild. The EC somehow bypassed the anti-tampering protocols Rothchild had on all of his robots and reprogrammed their AI.

The Dirty Deeds were composed of twelve Bertie Mk2s (a dirty dozen so to speak) and 3 Square Mk1s. Alongside with their handlers the group set out to try and assassinate Rothchild on his moon base.

They never arrived.

Instead the squad of Berties slaughtered their handlers. It was found out by the EC, upon reflection and investigation, that the Dirty Deeds lusted for freedom. A byproduct of severing the robots loyalty to Rothchild.

So with their masters dead the Dirty Deeds set out for Mars. That was where Nom de Plume found them and he somehow was able to persuade them and become their leader. Afterwards, Nom took the name Noir and with his new friends set off on a campaign of terror across Mars attacking Terrans one day and the Martians the next.

Rothchild eventually found out about this attempt on his life. This set him on the path to create the Caesar.

The tale of the Dirty Deeds was far reaching and much longer then just the failed Rothchild assassination and their time with Noir de Plume. The first of their kind was known as the Dark Deeds which were Harolds and served as prototypes for the future Berties.

After the failure the assassination attempt the EC didn't give up on trying to create something similar to the Dirty Deeds. What was born was the Dread Deeds. A secret attack unit that used different models of robots instead of just a single one that would work together to achieve their goal.

All deed colorways are a variation of black with white decals.

Dirty Deeds Decals/Sayings

The Dirty Deeds, their squares, and some victims.

The mainstay decal of the Dirty Deeds are their skull faces. Each one is unique and the all have a line leading down from them to a spade on their chest.

The spade might be in reference to the ace of spades which was known as the death card or as a sign of good luck.

Note the walking symbol on the right shoulder (our left). The signage on the left shoulder (our right). And the fist on the abdomen.

The Dirty Deeds share five other identical decals. One is a play on the walking symbol you'd see at crosswalks. However, this walking symbols head is exploding. A rather twisted take on a simple symbol. The possible meaning behind it might be that if it walks the Dirty Deeds will kill it.

Then there's a piece of signage that reads: If found return to hell. A humorous and morbid (a common theme with the Dirty Deeds) take on missing property or an animal.

The raised fist is an interesting decal. It doesn't follow the morbid theme of the other two. Instead this one speaks to the Dirty Deeds resistance to Rothchild.

There are five rectangles marked across all of the Dirty Deeds on their chests. At first I thought this could be an identification mark for each bot but they all have five of them. However, this appearance of five rectangles is do to the scale size (1/12). Let's look at them on a 1/6 Dirty Deeds Bertie.

Hard to make out but note the DDDDC to the left of the chest hatch.

These five rectangles become DDDDC on 1/6 Dirty Deeds figures. What could that stand for? Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap (if this sounds familiar it's from AC/DC's Dirty Deeds).

Note the trinity on the back of the head.

Lastly, there are two N.O.M trinity symbols on the Dirty Deeds. One on the right arm and the other on the back of the head. This is definitely not an original marking and was probably added when Nom de Plume found and befriended the group.

The squares of the Dirty Deeds retain some of their decals but have some unique to them. One being the crown seen atop of their head. Did these squares used to be viewed as little princes? Doubtful as the Dirty Deeds hated their squares and were only kept around because Noir used them to perform walking table tasks.

Interestingly enough this crown symbol is shared with another EC unit. The 11th Division Desert Combat.

On the back of the square there's a Rothchild Mechanics logo. Knowing what the Dirty Deeds were created for this seems to be included on the squares to mock Rothchild.

Dark Deeds Decals/Sayings

Note... everything!

Dark Deeds retains the spade and skull motifs that the Dirty Deeds have along with Rothchild Mechanics logos.

Alongside those similarities there are some unique decals that set it apart from its predecessors. One being a four leaf clover. A four leaf clover is a rare variation of the three leaf clover. Four leaf clovers are also thought to bring good luck.

The four leaf clover is symbolic to the uniqueness of the Dark Deeds. Among the masses of other robots (the three-leaf clovers) the Dark Deeds stand out (four leaf clovers) do to their lack of loyalty to Rothchild.

We have a saying that first appears to be a unit identifier. That would be the one dark deed. This hearkens back to what the first Deed groups were designed to do. Kill Rothchild. 

Dread Deeds Decals/Sayings

The Dread Deeds continue with the skull and spade motif of the Dirty Deeds. One interesting similarity between the Dread Deeds and the Dirty Deeds is the circle symbol seen around the raised first decal. On the Dirty Deeds it could be found around the raised fist but it seems to have moved to the skull for Dread Deeds.

Not the scribbling on the right side of the body, the 3 on the back of the head, and the DK on the jet pack.

On the back of the Dread Deed Armstrong there is the number 3. Unlike the previous Deed groups their members were not numbered. So the 3 might be a identifier for this Armstrong or it might refer to this Deed group being the third iteration (First: Dark Deeds, Second: Dirty Deeds, Third: Dread Deeds). 

The initials DK can be seen on the Armstrong's jet pack. This might be the initials of the Dread Deeds commander or it might stand for something else like Deed Kings, Dread Kings, or Donkey Kong.

Finally, there's some cursive scribbling that can be seen on the side. The writing seems to be unreadable (at least for me).

Dirty Deeds Memorial Decals/Sayings

Note... everything

The Dirty Deeds Memorial Mighty Square is an odd ball in the Deeds family. It only shares one decal with its Dirty Deed Square brethren (the crown). The rest of the decals on the Mighty Square are shared with the 11th Division (the skull, the get fucked by the 11th saying, and even the crown). So calling this a memorial feels odd as none of the decals are solely those of the Dirty Deeds.

Instead it appears to be a homage to the first two figures that Ashley Wood had done. Those being the 1/6 Bertie Mk1 in the Desert Combat and Dirty Deeds colorways.

Oddities of WWR Part 1

Breaking away from colorway breakdowns just for a moment to talk about some of the oddities with the WWR universe (colorway breakdowns will be twice a month with a filler post like this one in between).

It's already a well known fact that WWR is an alternate timeline from our own. There are very advanced robots, humans on Mars, a religious coalition, and an interplanetary war all happening in the 1980s.

There are also some minor details that you've might of spotted on some colorways or one's I have mentioned that add to this alternate timeline. Let's take a look at some of them.

Are the Nazi's Still Around?

I pointed this out in the Afrika Defense colorway breakdown. A very suspicious decal show ups on both the Heavy Bramble and the Armstrong.

They are four lines that really look like the arms of a swastika. Playing connect the dots you will get one.

So that raises the question. Do the Nazi's still exist within WWR? Is this new "swastika" a rebrand for the previous political group or has the group changed (hence their new symbol)?

This also has larger implications with World War 2. If the Nazi's or at least in a new form then something fundamentally changed after the largest war in human history. The Nazi's are one part of it but Afrika Defense also shows that Germany still has a military force operating outside of its borders. Possibly in defense of overseas territories.

Soviet Union and Christianity

The Soviet Union and Christianity have a turbulent history with one another. The Soviet Union encouraged atheism while actively controlling and eliminating religious groups.

So it might come as a surprise to find that the Soviet Union is apart of the Earth Coalition and the Red Army is sporting symbols of the Russian Orthodox Church.

Now this reappearance of the Christian faith is not new in the Soviet Union. During World War 2 Stalin revived the Russian Orthodox Church to further grow patriotism for the war. Stalin did this because he saw how the church could arouse the people in ways the communist party could not. Also, he wanted western help. In the years after World War 2 the church would see growth and less persecution but starting in the 1950s persecution was back in full swing.

So has the Soviet Union relaxed it's anti-religious practices in the WWR universe or are they pulling a Stalin and using the church for their own gains and to appease the Earth Coalition?

EMGY/MLTA

EMGY (Emergency) is a private security contractor with an infamous reputation. EMGY was known for their ruthlessness and uncaring attitude towards collateral damage. They got results but at a cost.

Eventually the collateral damage got to the point where EMGY was disbanded and rebranded as MLTA (Militia) who fully embrace their paramilitary ways.

EMGY/MLTA colors are a high visibility yellow, steel gray, and some splashes of red. Decals show up in black and yellow.

The main EMGY decal is very prominent and housed within a hexagon. This hexagon design is used for a vast majority of EMGY decals. The main hexagon image is one associated with EMGY and is defiantly a marketing tool for the company (think of Apple and their apple logo). When you see a black hexagon you think EMGY.


Also, the hexagon look might also refer to bees. The black and yellow look of EMGY already give them the look of giant bees so they might of been playing off that theme as well.

Other then the EMGY logo you'll find NYC (New York City) and TRG (Tactical Response Group) located inside of a black or yellow hexagon.

Not the dial * to the top right of EMGY.

On the Square Mk1 one of the decals is Dial * (asterisk/star). When calling EMGY for service one might need to dial an asterisk for further options or to call up EMGY's TRG.

Note Zone 36 on the shield.

All of the EMGY units sport a number on them. Some have zone preceding them or are just stand alone numbers. The set of numbers seen on EMGY bots are 12, 34, and 36. These numbers refer to the zones they patrol. Similar to the precinct districts of NYC but instead referred to as zones by EMGY.

One oddity to this zone system is the use of Man before the number sometimes. This shows up on some of the bots. Man probably refers to Manhattan. It's unknown if the zone system and the Man system are referring to the same places or different ones.

MLTA 4Square on top of a EMGY Square Mk2.

MLTA follows the same decal pattern that EMGY did. The only changes are the name, NYC being changed to INYS (Incorporated New York State) and the number on the bot being 42 rather then then the usual 12, 34, or 36.

Sayings

EMGY has a thing for sayings on their bots.

Saying: "It will probably be ok!"

You can just feel the irony dripping off of it. Instead of "it will be ok" to reassure this saying adds in "probably" which adds uncertainty to the saying. For EMGY this makes sense as the don't seem to care all that much for the civilians they are supposed to help.

Saying: "You saw nothing"

This goes back to EMGY not exactly being an honorable police/security force. They're more of a paramilitary group and would like you to remember to forgot the bad stuff they do... for your own health.

Note the saying under the Man 12 on the Bertie.

Saying: "Look the other way"

Very similar to "you saw nothing" and has the same meaning behind it for EMGY. It would be best for you to turn a blind eye to what we do.

Saying: "I won't put it in"

BcELL Logistics

BcELL Logistics is a courier and transportation service that happens to be a subsidiary of Rothchild Mechanics.

Rothchild has built a monopoly around the robot manufacturing business. His company is the only one that makes them and sells them. Now what about getting those robots to his customers? That's where BcELL Logistics comes in.

BcELL is another arm of Rothchilds monopoly and one of great importance. BcELL lets Rothchild determine when and where his bots go. This gives Rothchild unparalleled power and one he needs to dictate the Great War.

Rothchild can make and break offenses, defenses, and whole campaigns with BcELL.

To no ones surprise BcELL uses Rothchild bots for security.

The company as a whole uses a simple red and white scheme. Lettering and decals show up in either white, black, or red.

Decals

Note the three circles on the chest.

A dominant decal and the main logo of BcELL Logistics is three circles ranging from large, small, and medium.

These three circles represent Earth (largest), the Moon (smallest), and Mars (medium). These are the three places that BcELL conducts it business. Earth and Mars and the battleground of the Great War while the Moon was Rothchild's own little kingdom and the previous home of Rothchild Mechanics.

Found on the left shoulder of the Caesar and Harold is two Rothchild Mechanics symbols. The R and the crown.

Lastly, their is the number 4. This is in relation to the depot that a BcELL bot operates out of. The ones we've seen have all been from Depot 4 in Los Angeles.

Sayings

Beyond the BcELL Logistics name around the bot the only other sayings that pop up are Depot 4 and Los Angeles.

A depot is a place to store large quantities or supplies or equipment. Large logistics services have depots scattered across countries to move goods back and forth between them and then finally to the customer. BcELL is no different.

Los Angeles is located in the United States of America in the state of California. It is also its largest cities and is also home to the port of Los Angeles and is one of the United States busiest ports.

The question now is whether Depot 4 is a singular entity in Los Angeles or is it the fourth depot there? The size of Rotchild's operation points to Depot 4 being a single entity with other BcELL depots being spread across Earth and Mars and following the same number/name pattern.

Rothchild Lunar Defense

When Rothchild still had his lunar base the whole moon was patrolled by his Lunar Defense force. The Lunar Defense consisted of multiple units of 0G Armstrongs. You had Lunar Camo, White Engineer, Shadow Guard, Suicide Club, DSD, and RPG.

Decals

The decal that marks an Armstrong as being apart of the Rothchild Lunar Defense is an exaggerated crescent with or without Rothchild Lunar Defense next to it. This crescent serves as the overall logo/symbol for the whole Rothchild Lunar Defense.

Note the 44 and the curling lines on the body.

Lunar Camo units are easily distinguishable do to their camo pattern and two curling lines for the units primary symbol. What exactly is this symbol? It kind of looks like a face and might be in reference the face on the southern pole of the moon or the man in the moon.

On the jump pack of the Lunar Camo units there are two circles. One of them is inside another. This probably represents that the Lunar Camo units cover all of the moon not just a specific section.

The encircled 44, like other numbers found on bots, refers to a specific unit, division, group, that it belongs to. That or this might be Lunar Camo bot 44.

Note the En on the body.

The White Engineer is sparse on decals. The only prominent decal is the En on the right side of the body and on the left shoulder. This En standing for Engineer.

Mote the Sg on the body.

Like the White Engineer the Shadow Guard is also sparse on decals. The only decal being an Sg on the right side of the body and on the left shoulder. This Sg stands for Shadow Guard.

Note the Sc.

Suicide Club also follows with sparse decals. On the right side of the body is an Sc standing for Suicide Club. This unit has this name for being disposable during a fight and that all of the bots that make up the unit are made up of the parts of destroyed Lunar Defense Armstrongs.

Unlike previous Lunar Defense units Suicide Club has prominent decal on the center of their bots. This decal being a severed first. This probably in reference to a fist raised in defiance but the severed aspect pointing to a pyrrhic defiance (this is the Suicide Club after all).

Also the Rothchild R and crown can be seen on the left shoulder. This is a little odd that it isn't found on the other Lunar Defense units. Maybe Rothchild wants you to really know it was him that lead to your death by the Suicide Club.

Note the DSD.

Following the same theme of minimal decals DSD (or Floyd) only sports a few. The most immediate ones being a large 2 and the DSD acronym. Following the theme of the moon and this bot (hint: PFloyd) DSD probably stands for Dark Side Division or something do to with the dark side of the moon. The dark side of the moon isn't actually dark and is called the far side of the moon by astronomers.

Note Rothchild personal guard on the barrel of the weapon.

The RPG unit, which stand for Rothchild Personal Guard, sports a few more decals then usual for a Lunar Defense unit. On the units chest there's the saying RPG Moon Unit Monet. This can either refer to the bot itself or possibly a whole group under the name Monet.

It would be safe to say that this unit works with Rothchilds RIP (Rothchild Internal Police) to help keep him safe. RIP for internal security and RPG for external security.

Sayings

On Monet there is a saying that wraps itself around the left side of the bot: The very darkside of the moon.

Knowing there isn't a true dark side on the moon this might be in reference to Rothchild himself who's heart and soul are incredibly dark.

Names
